Supporting resilience and recovery: GP viewpoints on trauma-informed care

Speakers:

Dr Eleanor Bulford
Safer Families Centre, University of Australia

Facilitated by:

Dr Bianca Forrester, has lived and worked in the Geelong community for 15 years. She is a senior lecturer in Primary Care at the University of Melbourne and is also a lecturer at Deakin’s School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical work, she runs several communities of practice on issues including COVID care, family violence and youth mental health.

It’s been almost a decade since Rosie Batty was nominated Australian of the Year in recognition of her work of raising awareness of the importance of recognising and responding to family violence. Since that time, there has been a drive to increase our confidence and skills in recognising and responding to this issue, but also…in being more adept in handling the tricky balance we must strike between how we practice the issue of privacy of information and sharing information to create safety. Increasingly young people are coming forward to our clinics to talk about difficult experiences within the home environment.

This webinar was recorded on 25 October 2023.
