Dr Bianca Forrester, has lived and worked in the Geelong community for 15 years. She is a senior lecturer in Primary Care at the University of Melbourne and is also a lecturer at Deakin’s School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical work, she runs several communities of practice on issues including COVID care, family violence and youth mental health.
Teens have been confronting another issue on the tail of the pandemic crisis: Eating disorders. Early in the crisis and throughout we noticed a rapid spike in eating disorders presentations and the presentations don’t seem to be abating. While little will has changed in relation to the evidence for treatment and management, I imagine that many of us are gathering new insights and experiences in how to best recognise issues in teens, their more complex presentations and how to manage at this time of high service demand.
We invite paediatrician and expert in Eating Disorders management, Dr Michele Yeo to update us on practice and share her wisdom gained through this challenging time.
