Family Violence Learning Suite

In April 2021, GPs and Practice nurses became prescribed information sharing entities under the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS). This means that GPs and nurses now hold responsibilities to share information, as appropriate, with other information sharing entities (ISEs).

To assist clinicians to better understand the legislative changes under the new information sharing schemes, we’ve put together a suite of training options for you to work with either as self paced or interactive sessions.

Information Sharing Reforms- what do GPs and Practice nurses need to know?

In April 2021, GPs and Practice nurses became prescribed information sharing entities under the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS). This means that GPs and nurses now hold responsibilities to share information, as appropriate, with other information sharing entities (ISEs).

So, how will this change the work we do in DiSS? How will information sharing support the collaborative work already in place in many of our clinics and alongside our wellbeing team? Responding to Family violence and information sharing schemes in practice

Part 1: Pre-flective webinar- The Information Sharing Schemes

In August, we met to discuss the changed legislations in regarding to information sharing. These changes were brought about in response to the Royal commission into Family violence and outline the roles and responsibilities of information sharing entities in relation to the work of supporting the wellbeing of children and adolescents experiencing family violence. GPs and practice nurses are prescribed information sharing entities under this scheme.

Please see the above webinar and associated resources to refresh your memory.

Part 2: Reflective Webinar- Recognising and responding to Family Violence and the information sharing schemes in practice

In October, we came together again to consider best practice in working with young people who might be experiencing family violence and discussed how we could work with the new legislations and requirements around information sharing to support young people attending school based health services, when appropriate, reasonable and safe to do so.

Learning outcomes:
